VOTE YES ON MEASURE _
Since 1992, San Marino residents, businesses, and property owners have benefited from services funded by a modest Utility Users Tax (UUT) which generates revenue our community depends on.
This tax has been approved by voters three times before.
Previously, voters approved a UUT of up to 6% on the utility bills. However, that amount was reduced in 2015 to 5% which reduced the City’s revenues and ability to pay for essential services.
Voters are now being asked to consider extending the current tax and increase it by 1% to the previously approved rate of 6%. A decision rooted in proactively safeguarding what we have, and planning for the future.
Voting Yes on Measure _ means that a critical source of revenue which has supported San Marino services for decades, will continue to reliably fund services such as our Police Department, Fire Department, emergency preparedness, ability to maintain and replace roads and sidewalks, offer programs for our youth and seniors, and more.
Every penny of these funds stay in San Marino, for San Marino.
San Marino’s exiting UUT represents approximately 6% of the City’s General Fund and is critical to maintain existing services that make San Marino special. The City has taken steps to control costs including freezing positions, eliminating programs, and implementing one-time budget reduction measures to name a few. Voting Yes to renew the City’s UUT means that the core functions we benefit from today that are most essential to our community will not have to be reduced further.
Voting Yes on Measure _ supports thoughtful, long-term financial planning. Measure _ helps preserve the public safety, community character, and services that set San Marino apart.
Vote Yes on Measure _. Safeguard the services that make San Marino special. Safeguard the future of San Marino.
