1. Pedestrian Malls – Draft Design
Kathy Kleinbaum, Assistant City Manager, and Connie Goldade, Community Design + Architecture, presented information on the draft schematic design proposal for short-term improvements to the pedestrian malls on B Street between 1st and 3rd Avenues. Council asked questions of staff.

Public Comment - Raayan Monteshemi encouraged adding bike lockers, suggested repurposing funding to complete a downtown circulation assessment. Kevin Lucido asked questions regarding why modern type style items were chosen instead of the existing architecture style. Max Mautner stated he is grateful that the topic is being discussed and a priority is to make it safer for non-car transit. Jonathan New was happy to see first steps to incorporate design but proposed just paint the crosswalks. Tyson Mao would like to promote extension of the pedestrian mall towards Baldwin Street.

Council asked additional questions of staff and discussion ensued. Consensus was for immediate improvements with furniture, planters, trees and bushes. Regarding the street painting the preference was to focus on the social justice art project that has already been on the Council priority list.
