STUDY SESSION
1. Speed Limit Setting and Program Update
Bethany Lopez, Public Works Senior Engineer, provided a presentation on the rules around speed limits, outlined the plan for updating speed limits in the city, and outlined a timeline for effecting the changes. Council asked questions of staff.

In person (3): Kevin Simpson; Lauren Fitzgerald; and Ignacio Leciza. Remote (11): Max Mautner; Sean Lacson; Yiming Luo; Raayan Mohtashemi; RonSnow, Safer4Us.com; Heather Wolnick; M; Ted McKinnon; Bry; Jordan Grimes and Kelly Moran.
Council asked additional questions of staff, including Sergeant Craig Collom.
Council unanimously provided direction that justification for enforcement alone is not sufficient to raise speed limits and directed staff to focus on traffic calming and to redirect resources to expedite implementation of school zones speed limits.
