City Council Priority List – Progress Report
RECOMMENDATION:
Review the progress report status updates of the City Council Priority List for fiscal year 2023-24.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council goal-setting process includes a three-step deliberation process resulting in the adoption of a City Council Priority List, which includes staff’s proposed work plan for each initiative for the upcoming fiscal year. The first step of the process was the City Council Blue Sky Workshop, held on February 11, 2023. At this workshop, the City Council reviewed the adopted fiscal year 2022-23 priorities, removed completed and operationalized items, and proposed new priorities to add to the list for the fiscal year 2023-24. At the March 20th meeting, City Council reviewed the draft Priority List to ensure accuracy. City Council formally adopted the fiscal year 2023-24 City Council Priority List at the April 17th meeting.
Staff is providing a progress report, which was formally called a mid-cycle review, of the City Council Priority List from fiscal year 2023-24 and will present the updates to City Council. This report provides a high-level summary of each priority and is included in the attached spreadsheet labeled 2023-2024 Priority List Updates. Fiscal Year 2023-2024 started on July 1, 2023, and ends on June 30, 2024, and this report focuses on the progress made from July 1 through October 30, 2023.
Staff has made progress on each of the priorities or at the very least, has identified next steps on how to proceed.
Staff recommends City Council review the priorities and the respective updates. Staff will be available to answer any questions.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no budget impact from this agenda item.
ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION:
This progress report review is not a project subject to CEQA, because it is an organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5).)
