Dear Council,
I wish to first congratulate you all on a year well done. Despite a bumpy beginning, as a new council you have been able to come together, transcending differences in personality and ideology, and unite over your shared love of San Mateo. Thank you to outgoing Mayor Amourance Lee for your leadership.
As Foster City shares your meeting schedule, I will be unable to speak in person, but I nevertheless wanted to express my hope and expectation that you will continue to work together, and allow for a smooth and quick rotation of the positions tonight without drama or unnecessary histrionics, particularly because many eyes both within San Mateo and beyond will be watching.
It has been said that a true leader leads from any seat, and I hope that your city and the rest of San Mateo county will see that tonight. I look forward to continuing to watch this strong and capable council represent San Mateo well.
