FROM: Alex Khojikian, City Manager
PREPARED BY: City Clerk's Office
MEETING DATE: January 02, 2024
SUBJECT:

City Council Appointments to External Agencies and Liaison Roles RECOMMENDATION:

Review and provide direction on the 2024 appointments to external agencies, organizations and liaison roles; consider and approve a change to the continuity designation for Planning Commission and approve the final appointments and liaison list.

BACKGROUND:

On Monday December 11, 2023 the City Clerk sent out a poll to each Council Member soliciting their responses, to the Clerk only, for priority interest in various regional and local available appointments. Council Members returned the poll individually to the Clerk. The Clerk then combined the interests of all Council Members into a single document and shared it with the Mayor and City Manager. The Mayor reviewed the list for balance and will present her recommendations for assignments along with her proposal to remove the Planning Commission Liaison role as a continuity designation and instead consider it as one of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor assignments each year. This is due to the commission’s high profile as the second highest decision making body for the City. The Council will have an opportunity to discuss and balance appointments, if needed. It is desired that the list be approved at this meeting.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact from this administrative action.

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION:

This appointment review is not a project subject to CEQA, because it is an organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5).)
