RE: REVISED Final Ballot Tabulation Results (ONLY to update number of ballots mailed - NO impact on outcome of tabulation)

Proposed Proposition 218 Community Flood and Storm Protection Fee We tabulated ballots that were received by December 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. We had at least two people involved in the process of opening the envelopes containing the ballots; removing the ballots from the envelopes; sorting them into piles for "yes" votes, "no" votes and invalid ballots; and scanning the barcode on each ballot. These ballots have now been bundled in stacks of 100 ballots each and will be sent to the City of San Mateo's office for storage under separate cover.
We ran a computer program provided by SCI Consulting that processed the ballot data and provided a report of partial scans, duplicate ballots and information that did not match the master assessment file.
After all issues that had been identified were resolved, we re-ran the tabulation program. The tabulation report provided the following information:
Total Number of Valid Ballots Processed: 9,232
Total Number of Votes 10,032
Total Number of "YES" ballots Processed: 4857
Total Number of "YES" votes: 5195
Total Percentage of "Yes" Ballots: 51.78%
Total Number of "NO" ballots Processed: 4375
Total Number of "NO" Votes: 4837
Total Percentage of "No" Ballots: 48.22%
Total Number of "INVALID" Ballots Processed: 76
Total Number of "INVALID" votes: 85
The total number of ballots received by December 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. was 9,308. This represents a
34.83 % ballot return rate on the 26,726 ballots that were actually mailed. Our previous report had listed number of ballots mailed as 27,250 which had been the original estimate of ballots that would be mailed.
