San Mateo Police Sergeants’ Association – Salary Adjustment RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution to adjust San Mateo Police Sergeants salaries in accordance with the Sergeants’ Association Memorandum of Understanding Article 12 A.2) Salary Alignment, and to approve a supplemental budget appropriation in the amount of $24,000.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo Police Sergeants’ Association (hereafter “Association”) represents 17 employees.

The contract with this bargaining unit expires June 22, 2024.

Article 12 A.2) states that “the salary range for Police Sergeants will be maintained at 20% higher than the salary range for the classification of Police Officer.”
Due to salary increases agreed upon between the City and POA effective the first full pay period after January 16, 2024, the Sergeants are now entitled to a similar increase.

The Sergeants are entitled to a 5.0% salary increase effective the first full pay period following January 16, 2024.

BUDGET IMPACT:

A supplemental budget appropriation of available fund balance in the General Fund of $24,000 for the Police Department’s 2023-2024 operating budget is required to accommodate the salary increases.
