MEETING DATE: November 18, 2024
SUBJECT:
Senior Advisory Commission – Ordinance Introduction
RECOMMENDATION:
Introduce an Ordinance to amend San Mateo Municipal Code Chapter 2.29 “Senior Citizens Commission” to change its name to “Senior Advisory Commission” and make other miscellaneous revisions.
BACKGROUND:
On September 16, 2024, the City Council directed staff to update the San Mateo Municipal Code Chapter 2.29 to change the name of the Senior Citizens Commission to the Senior Advisory Commission. The commission was formed in 1986, and the code has not been amended since it was adopted. As such, the code has some outdated information that is being updated. Under section 2.29.010, Organization, reference to the previous Senior Advisory Council has been removed, as it does not exist anymore. Section 2.29.020, Meetings, has been updated to reflect the meeting schedule which is the second Monday of every other month at 4 PM. In section 2.29.030, Powers-Duties, reference to the implementation of the Adopted Master Plan for Senior Services has also been eliminated, as implementation of this plan has been completed.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no budget impact associated with this administrative action.
ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION:
This Ordinance introduction is not a project subject to CEQA, because it is an organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5).)
