Dear San Mateo City Council,
I am writing to express my support for the proposed Reach Codes, proposed as item #13 in the agenda.
As a member of Citizens' Climate Lobby, I care deeply about the climate crisis, and the proposed codes which promote electrification & improved energy efficiency will help cut carbon emissions from new buildings and improve indoor air quality for residents, a step in the right direction for our future.
Sincerely,
Alex Yu

Dear City Council,
Thank you for your leadership in stopping the march of the climate crisis. I write to you today in support of Item 13 on the January 13 City Council agenda, Reach Codes for New Construction.
I look forward to the coming year when the Council will be considering Reach Codes for the next building code cycle. Please count on me to support everything you can do to decarbonize our buildings.
I am especially interested in what the city will be doing in reducing general carbon emissions from all San Mateo City sources and NOx from combustion sources.
Thank you

Dear City Council:
I urge you to adopt the Reach Codes for New Construction which is item #13 on the agenda for this Monday.
When this item first came to Council in October, 2024 for first review, we recommended against its adoption. Since that time we have talked to Council Members, Staff, and the City’s consultants. We thank you for addressing our concerns.
Thank you.

Subject: I"m writing to encourage approval of Reach Codes in San Mateo Date: Sunday, January 12, 2025 7:52:32 PM
I am writing to let you know that I completely support your progressive thinking about climate change. Approval Reach Codes is the best example of this point:
Reach Code reform is important for the San Mateo City Council in this leadership.
Improvement in Reach Codes will cut carbon emissions from new buildings and thereby improve indoor air quality for residents in our City.
My wife Elizabeth Moody and I, Harry R. Moody, completely support this policy be the City Council. I have previously testified in person at City Council hearings but I cannot come the evening of January 13, 2025, which is why I am writing to you now.
I trust you will share this message with all memebers of the San Mateo City Council.
Councilmembers, Please act on Reach Codes today!
Harry R. Moody, Apt. 117

To Whom this may concern;
I fully support all efforts toward creating a cleaner greener future. We transitioned to all electric in our home and are extremely happy. I just wish I could do more. For example have a small wind turbine to help power our home and a battery backup!
Please work to cut carbon emissions from new buildings and improve the air quality whenever possible. I know this is hard, and sometimes, thankless work but necessary to ensure a viable future. Thank you for all you do. Please keep working on this through Reach Codes.
All the best,

Subject: Supporting Agenda item 13, updating reach codes Date: Monday, January 13, 2025 12:13:29 PM
Dear City Council,
I appreciate the city’s work in adjusting local policy to confront our climate crisis.
I am writing in support of Item 13 on the January 13 City Council agenda, Reach Codes for New Construction.
While the ninth court decision barring cities from regulating gas is very disappointing, the proposed adjustment for us to use an Energy Performance Reach Code approach is a good path forward.
The decarbonization of our buildings is critical to meeting climate goals. I look forward to the city’s continued work and leadership in the coming years, and strongly support this work.
Thank you,
- Rick Ballard
