Re: Letter of recommendation for Lindsay Raike for appointment to the San Mateo Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission
To Whom It May Concern:

I write to strongly recommend the appointment of Lindsay Raike to the City of San Mateo Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission.

I had the pleasure to work alongside Ms. Raike for more than two years in her grassroots effort to save the Mack E. Mickelson Arthritis and Rehabilitation Pool from closure.

Her leadership and dedication on behalf of the pool's clients made a profound impact on our community. The successful preservation of the Mickelson pool is a testament to her passion and determination. Not only is she a Jefferson Award winner for Public Service but she is also the recipient of the San Mateo Mayor's Hero Award.

Ms. Raike is perfectly suited to advise on policies and programs related to environmental sustainability, transportation and infrastructure and will make a wonderful addition to the commission.

In friendship,

Re: Sustainability & Infrastructure Commission, Lindsay Raike Dear Council Members,
This is to enthusiastically recommend Lindsay Raike as a candidate for the San Mateo Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission. I met Lindsay during my tenure as a Sequoia Healthcare District Board member and collaborated with her on keeping the Michelson Therapy Pool open at Mills Hospital.

Lindsay is a long-term advocate for those with disabilities who fully understands mobility and access needs. I found her extremely knowledgeable regarding all age groups with special needs, including elderly citizens. She is remarkably organized, an excellent communicator, and particularly skilled at following complex projects through to completion. I watched her do what I initially thought was the impossible when she managed to get corporate healthcare to keep a much-needed therapy pool open in our community. She did this with tenacity, tact, and strong leadership skills.

Please strongly consider Lindsay as a dependable and valued member of this Commission.

Sincerely,
Kim Griffin, RN

RE: Application of Susan Rowinski for Re-Appointment to the Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission
Dear Mayor Newsom:

I am writing to you in support of the re-appointment of Susan Rowinski to the City of San Mateo's Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission.

During my years on the San Mateo City Council, I worked with Ms. Rowinski as she served as a commissioner. During this time, I observed someone who will invest time in all the matters brought before her. Ms. Rowinski studies issues from a city-wide perspective and reaches out to a variety of residents and stakeholders in order to make informed recommendations to city staff and council. Each idea is well-considered and balances, at times, conflicting needs.

Ms. Rowinski has demonstrated that she is thoughtful, respectful and acts with the best interests of the broader community while informing her decisions on the facts and with community input.
1 am pleased to recommend Ms. Rowinski for re-appointment and I thank you for your consideration of Ms. Rowinski's application.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any additional information.

Sincerely,
Assemblymember Diane Papan

Re: Recommendation in Strong Support of Lindsay Raike
Dear Mayor Newsom and City Council Members,
I write this letter to strongly recommend Lindsay Raike for a position on the San Mateo Sustainability and Infrastructure Commission, where I know she will contribute thoughtfully and effectively for the City of San Mateo and its residents. Lindsay is someone whose dedication, insight, and collaborative spirit have already made a measurable difference in San Mateo County.

I came to know Lindsay during the effort to save and reopen the Mickelson Therapy Pool, a vital warm water resource for hundreds of residents. When Sutter Health announced it would permanently close the pool during the pandemic, Lindsay knew something had to be done she mobilized a wide-ranging coalition that included local officials, healthcare providers, and community members.

Her work through Warm Water Wellness, the nonprofit she founded, was instrumental in bringing the pool back. She coordinated with leaders across every city in the county, both health care districts, and even our state and federal representatives. Ultimately, her leadership helped inspire Sutter to reverse its decision and invest $1 million into the pool's renovation.

I had the opportunity to speak at several key moments in that campaign-including the rally outside Mills Health Center, the groundbreaking, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony and each time I saw Lindsay demonstrate quiet persistence, compassion, and a deep respect for the voices of others.

Lindsay has a clear understanding of how infrastructure decisions affect real lives especially for those who are often overlooked. She prepares thoroughly, listens carefully, and brings people together. I am particularly moved by the fact that she accomplished all of this while navigating significant health challenges of her own a true testament to her resilience, purpose, and dedication to public service. I have every confidence that she will bring these same strengths to her role on this commission.

Sincerelv
