Public Comment:

Robert Whitehair urged the Council to oppose Assembly Bill 306, cautioning that it would undermine local electrification efforts and building reach codes under the pretext of expediting construction in certain areas of Southern California. Max Mautner expressed support for Senate Bill 63, citing its significance to Bay Area transit agencies such as Caltrain and BART, and encouraged the development of more housing near transit. Rick Bonilla supported SB 63, advocating for improved, equitable, and integrated regional transit. Jordan Grimes voiced support for both SB 63 and SB 79, emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration on transit and housing, and commended SB 79’s flexible, tiered approach to increasing affordable housing without placing undue burden on cities. Adina Levin spoke in favor of AB 1250 to improve paratransit access and supported SB 63, noting its consistency with San Mateo’ s goals related to housing, equity, and climate.
