Deputy Director of Public Works Job Specification Updates — Approval RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a Resolution to approve the updates to the job specification of the Deputy Director of Public Works position.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department has two (2) Deputy Directors that each manage half of the department’s eight technical divisions. Recently, one of the Deputy Directors resigned, requiring opening a new recruitment for a replacement. There is a need to revise the job specification to update the duties and minimum qualifications, and provide greater flexibility for assigning divisional management responsibilities between both positions. The proposed revisions to the job specification removes a definition related to the prior “Environmental Services Division” or “Engineering and Facilities Services Division” and creates a general language that covers all of the relevant potential duties and desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no budget impact associated with the revisions to the job specification of the Deputy Director of Public Works position.
ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION:
The job specification updates are not subject to CEQA because it is a government fiscal activity which does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(4).)
