FROM: Alex Khojikian, City Manager
PREPARED BY: Human Resources Department
MEETING DATE: July 28, 2025
SUBJECT:

Solid Waste Technician Reclassification – Approval
RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution to approve the reclassification of the incumbent in the Administrative Assistant position in the Waste Management division of the Public Works Department to Solid Waste Technician.

BACKGROUND:

A reclassification study was requested by the Administrative Assistant in the Public Works Department, Waste Management Division, to determine if the incumbent is performing the duties of a higher-level position. A third-party consultant conducted the study and recommended that the Administrative Assistant position be reclassified to the Solid Waste Technician. The Public Works Department and Human Resources support this recommendation, and request that the reclassification of the incumbent in the Administrative Assistant position to a Solid Waste Technician position be approved.

BUDGET IMPACT:

The reclassification of the Administrative Assistant to a Solid Waste Technician will result in an estimated $10,000 cost for FY2025-26 to the Solid Waste Fund. The Public Works Department will be able to absorb these costs within their operating budget and this position will be built into any future budgets.

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION:

This reclassification is not subject to CEQA, because it is a government fiscal activity which does not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(4).)

NOTICE PROVIDED
All meeting noticing requirements were met.
