Youth Commissioners to the Senior Advisory Commission – Ordinance Adoption RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt an Ordinance to amend San Mateo Municipal Code Section 2.29.10 “Senior Advisory Commission” to provide for Council appointment of two non-voting youth advisory members.

BACKGROUND:

On September 2, 2025, the City Council introduced an Ordinance to amend San Mateo Municipal Code Chapter 2.29 “Senior Advisory Commission” to restore the provision establishing two non-voting youth advisory members (“Youth Commissioners”), which was inadvertently deleted in a prior amendment. This correction aligns with the Council’s original intent from the September 3, 2024, action to include youth participation. The proposed Ordinance is attached. If adopted, the Ordinance will become effective 30 days after its adoption.

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact related to this informational item.
