WHAT MY DESIGN WILL LOOK LIKE ON THE STREET
PROBLEM &
GOAL
• PROBLEM
Due to drivers inability to spot pedestrians and bikers in time, along with general street hazards, there has been a massive cause for concern for street safety.
GOAL
Create an easy-to-implement device or solution that
allows drivers to see bikers/pedestrians easily and
accurately. My suggestion/design could provide a physical chain that SHOWS/DIFFERENTIATES bikers from cars.

PIR SENSORS ARDUINO UNO & WIRING
PIR motion sensors are sensors that detect the The Arduino Uno is the main coding infrared radiation of passing organisms. All input/source and distributes the code living things emit infrared radiation, ensuring throughout my device. It connects the LEDs to that the sensors accurately detect only living the PIR motion sensors by using a breadboard, things and not objects, such as cars. wiring, and welding.
LEDS Using the Arduino Uno has been a really
I chose to use neon green LEDs in my Quest enlightening experience and has helped me understand the inner workings of
project since, out of all the LED colors, neon
green is one of the easiest to see. I welded breadboards and Arduino circuitboards individual LED strips togetherto create a chain
and attached them to the PIR motion sensors. 3D MODULE
COMBINED COMBINATION The 30 module encases the Arduino Uno, Using an Arduino Uno and a couple of wires, and other mechanics of my device, and batteries, I powered a PIR motion sensor and was designed by me through Tinkercad. While connected it to a set of green LEDs, so that the I was originally going to 3D print it out using lights would turn off whenever the PIR motion TPU, I eventually had to switch to polyetherane sensor detected a living thing since I couldn't find any local 3D printers that provided this material.

WHAT I WOULD CHANGE IF I
WERE TO IMPLEMENT ON ROAD
MODULE MATERIAL
Right now, my module/ container is made of polyurethane plastic, but it ! had the opportunity to put it on the road, I would 3D print it using TPU to enhance its durability,
POWER SOURCE
A few batteries currently run my machine, but if i were to go to put it on the road, I would replace these batteries with solar panels to minimize battery changes and maximize environmental friendliness.

Key neighborhood points for support of 1g* avenue project • Traffic data must show congestion RELIEF for the
entire 19th Avenue corridor from Delaware E/B through
Norfolk and must include:
• All of the improved proposed developments
including Fish Market, Concar, Marriott
property, increases Bridgepointe uses, and etc.
• The first block of 19th Avenue from Delaware to
Ginniver
• Absolute non-starter to induce more
congestion there as PW is considering
• Increased traffic to due school changes - less Bermuda travel, more side streets, double parking on Bermuda
(Could take new traffic counts to evaluate)
• The traffic impacts at the Delaware/19th intersection - limiting intersection blockage particularly into and out of Arco station from Delaware and onto 19th
This intersection must be engineered to
facilitate smooth traffic into 19th avenue to
prevent diversion into Fiesta Gardens
• MORE FLOW for left and right turns E/B 19th @ Norfolk, data shows right turn is actually higher volume
Engineering must increase left AND right turning
capacity with longer storage pockets
Opposed to the proposed bulb-out crosswalk at E/B
19th to S/B Norfolk impeding right turn
• Opposed to adding no right turn on red
(keep right turn on red - this costs NO
MONEY and affords more flow)
Delaware at Grant and at 19th catty corner
"scrambles"
• ONLY ON DEMAND as less than 1% of
this traffic usage are bikes/peds and will
also add huge congestion otherwise
• Consider evening out the harm caused by
Foster City with their no left turns on Hillsdale
which doubled the cut through traffic on 19th
by smartly rerouting and no right turns on
Fashion Island Blvd to freeway.
• Lighting Norfolk and under the overpass for safety
and traffic flow (Lighting improvements being
• Do not block intersection signage and increased
enforcement at Delaware and 19th - Don't block
the Block like SF
