STUDY SESSION
Citywide Facilities Condition Assessment – Informational Steve Woo, Facilities & Fleet Services Manager, Matt Fabry, Public Works Director, and David Masenten, from ELS Architecture and Urban Design gave the presentation.
Public Comment: There were no speakers.
Council asked questions and made comments. Council provided direction to move forward using a blended strategy focused on Approach 2 ( making like- for- like improvements to extend the useful life of priority facilities), Approach 3 ( pursuing opportunities for strategic redevelopment at key sites), and Approach 4 ( conducting citywide operational and programmatic assessments to guide future investments). Where necessary, the City will maintain the status quo and continue deferred maintenance ( Approach 1), thoug h the primary focus will be on forward- looking and strategic improvements. Staff and professional consultants will help determine which approach is most appropriate for each facility. Council emphasized the importance of equitable investment across all districts and committed to study sessions on key topics such as City Hall, recreation and aquatic facilities, and parking. This long- term planning effort is expected to unfold over the next 18– 36 months, with regular five- year reviews as a standard practice of good governance.
ADJOURNMENT – The meeting adjourned at 6: 48 p. m.
