RESOLUTION NO. __ (2026)
APPROVING REVISED SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER CLASSIFICATION
WHEREAS, pursuant to the San Mateo Municipal Code Section 2.57.030(d), approval of new classifications and related job specifications, salary schedules, compensation changes, elimination or reinstatement of positions, reallocation of positions, reclassifications, and revisions of job specifications must be approved by City Council Resolution; and
WHEREAS, on January 12, 2026, City Council approved the updated Senior Transportation Planner and Principal Transportation Planner job specification series and the salary range for the new classification of Senior Transportation Planner; and
WHEREAS historically, the salaries for the Planner and Transportation Planner series have always been aligned; and
WHEREAS, adjusting the salary range for the Senior Transportation Planner to align with the Senior Planner classification will ensure consistency, equity, and support with recruitment and retention; and
WHEREAS, the proposed revised salary schedule for the Senior Transportation Planner is attached hereto as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the employee associations representing the impacted classifications have been informed of the changes to the salary schedule and have not brought forth any objections or concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA, HEREBY RESOLVES that:
1. The revision to the Senior Transportation Planner salary schedule is not subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3)) because it can be seen with certainty that it will not cause a physical change in the environment.
2. The revised salary schedule for the classification of the Senior Transportation Planner is attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated by reference.
3. The revised salary schedule for the Senior Transportation Planner is approved.
