1 AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO CITY MANAGER EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT
This Amendment No. 1 to the City Manager Employment Agreement is entered into as of February 23, 2026 by and between the City of San Mateo (“City”), a municipal corporation of the State of California, and Alex Khojikian (“Khojikian”) (collectively, the “Parties”).
WHEREAS, the City of San Mateo and Khojikian entered into a City Manager Employment Agreement (“Agreement”) dated June 20, 2023; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to adjust Khojikian’s compensation as well as acknowledge his performance; and
WHEREAS, City and Khojikian wish to amend the Agreement effective March 1, 2026 to increase his existing compensation of $358,592.00 by ______ (___%) for a new compensation amount of $_______________.
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows:
1. Section C.1 of the Agreement is amended to read:
“City agrees to pay the City Manager _______________ dollars ($______________), which reflects a _____% increase, in salary per annum for his services, payable in installments at the same time as other employees of the City are paid and subject to customary withholding. Hereafter, the City Manager shall receive the compensation adjustments (cost-of-living adjustments [COLAs], lump sum payments, one-time leave hours) approved by the City Council in the same amount and at the same time as they are approved for unrepresented department heads.”
2 2. The remaining terms of the Agreement remain in full force and effect.
