SUBJECT:
San Mateo Union High School District (San Mateo Adult and Career Education) Recreation Instruction Services 2026-2028 — Agreement
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve an agreement with San Mateo Union High School District for Recreation Services facilitated by San Mateo Adult and Career Education in an amount not to exceed $25,000, for a term to start on July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, and authorize the Director of Parks and Recreation to execute the agreement in substantially the form presented.
BACKGROUND:
San Mateo Adult and Career Education’s mission is to prepare adults from diverse backgrounds and educational needs for success in college, career, and community engagement. Their programs provide equitable opportunities to access and acquire academic, workforce, life, and technology skills. Facilitated through the San Mateo Union High School District, San Mateo Adult and Career Education offers a broad range of opportunities for adults, including adult education, high school diploma and GED programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, and community enrichment classes.
The Recreation Division has collaborated with the San Mateo Adult and Career Education program to offer adult art programs at the Senior Center and the partnership has strengthened significantly, expanding opportunities for adult learners and demonstrating the shared commitment of both organizations to support community enrichment. Renewing this agreement formalizes and continues the successful partnership between the two government entities, ensuring that community members continue to benefit from high-quality programming supported by shared goals and coordinated services. As with past agreements of this type, City Council approval is required.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Course registration fees paid by participants cover all compensation to the contractor.
