RESOLUTION NO. ____ (2026)
AUTHORIZE A SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION OF $1,100,000 OF UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE
FROM THE GENERAL FUND AND CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FUND TO INCREASE TRANSFERS OUT TO THE
COMPREHENSIVE LIABILITY FUND TO INCREASE THE BUDGET FOR LEGAL COSTS WHEREAS, an increase to the Comprehensive Liability Fund (Fund 880) is necessary in order to adjust for a significant rise in legal expenses, which includes litigation costs, professional services, and claims; and WHEREAS, an appropriation of $1,100,000 of unassigned fund balance from the General Fund and the Construction Services Fund to increase transfers out to the Comprehensive Liability Fund is necessary to appropriately plan for legal expenses over the remainder of Fiscal Year 2025-26.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA, HEREBY RESOLVES that:
1. This resolution is not a project subject to CEQA, because it is an organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5).).
WHEREAS, The Council authorizes the supplemental budget appropriation of $1,100,000 of unassigned fund balance from the General Fund (Fund 100 - $880,000) and the Construction Services Funds (Fund 230 - $220,000) to increase transfers out to the Comprehensive Liability Fund (Fund 880) to increase the budget for legal costs.
