Dear City Council Members,
As a board member, I am writing in support of the Downtown San Mateo Association (DSMA). The DSMA has been the engine that keeps our downtown moving forward. The Association organizes community events, provides marketing for our Downtown district, and partners with the City of San Mateo.
Leadership is provided by DSMA Executive Director Mackenzie Jakoubek, and she is supported by the board of directors. There are various DSMA committees and community volunteers who work for the betterment of our downtown. By working together, the DSMA has a long list of
accomplishments in the past year.
I respectively request that the Council approve the annual renewal of the Downtown Business Improvement Area.
Best regards,
Robert Anderson

Dear Members of the City Council,
I am writing to express my strong support for the renewal of the Downtown Business Improvement Area. The Downtown San Mateo Association (DSMA) has played a crucial role in enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of our downtown district through its effective community engagement, marketing, and civic partnership initiatives.
Our business is located in the north end of "B" street and even though a lot of the community events take place in the heart of downtown (near the movie theatre) we still benefit from the additional foot traffic brought about by community events. We are always given space to advertise our business and point people in our direction via the restaurant guide and other measures. In addition, we always have had support from DSMA for North B events such as La Posada and the recent past, La Fiesta. Mackenzie Jakoubek, our Executive Director, is always looking for opportunities to showcase San Mateo! She has brought us events such as Boos on B, September Nights on B, annual Boba Day and monthly Head West Marketplace which brings locals as well as people from all over the bay to our community.
We believe it's essential that DSMA continues to bring energy and collaboration to our community, benefiting both businesses and residents. The DSMA's efforts are essential for maintaining a thriving downtown, and I urge you to approve its renewal.
Sincerely,

Dear Members of the City Council,
I understand that the Downtown Business Improvement Area is up for renewal and wanted to express my strong support. While my involvement has been relatively short - since then Mayor Nash asked me and Self-Help for the Elderly to partner with DSMA and the City to launch the inaugural Lunar New Year event on B St. - I have been a first hand witness to the increased activity, sense of excitement and feeling of community now felt by our residents and visitors.
The Downtown San Mateo Association (DSMA) has played a crucial role in enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of our downtown district through its effective community engagement, marketing, and civic partnership initiatives.
The DSMA, under the leadership of Executive Director Mackenzie Jakoubek, has continued to bring energy and heart-felt collaboration to our community, benefiting both businesses, non-profits and residents. I know that working closely with DSMA has helped Self-Help to become even more actively involved with the downtown San Mateo community. The DSMA's efforts are essential for maintaining a thriving downtown, and I urge you to approve its renewal.
Sincerely,
