STUDY SESSION

2. 101 Corridor Connect Program — Update
The City Council received a presentation from the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) on its 101 Corridor Connect Program, highlighting priority transportation improvements along US 101 through its Mid-County Multimodal Strategy and Active 101 planning efforts. SMCTA staff also introduced the forthcoming $4 million mini-grant program, which offers up to $750,000 in funding for early planning of select priority projects, or up to $1 million if a project is multi-jurisdictional. Primary project areas identified in the planning efforts for San Mateo included Hillsdale Boulevard and Saratoga Drive.

Public Comment: Kevin Simpson expressed support for the transportation improvements identified through the program, emphasized the need to prioritize bicycle and pedestrian connectivity across US 101, particularly at Hillsdale Boulevard, and encouraged expanded community outreach.

The Council expressed consensus support for staff to prioritize the Hillsdale Boulevard corridor for the mini- grant program, including studying traffic and multimodal improvements and the feasibility of a separated bicycle/pedestrian crossing over US 101. Council also expressed interest in exploring a multi-jurisdictional application with Foster City, which could qualify for up to $1 million in funding.

ADJOURNMENT – The meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
