Mayor Xavier and members of the City Council,

I am Janet Pottier and a resident of the Old Town area of San Pablo. When the Rumrill Sports Park was being planned,  buy‐in from the people living in the Old Town Area, who were concerned about the noise and lighting at night that the park would ge
nerate, were told the Park would have a playground, picnic area, and walking track open to the community to promote a healthy life style. In addition, the city would work to increase the quality and number of businesses in the area both for the benefit of the soccer players and residents of the area.

However when the Park opened (w
hich was long before Corvid restrictions) the facility was closed to the Community at the request of the  Developer.  The Community is not able to access the playground and other facilities as promised. No attempt has been made to increase Community fri endly businesses in the area or to promote and upgrade the current businesses as people need to leave shortly after the game because the gates are locked.

Before approving this resolution the City Council needs to ensure the Rumrill Sports Park will be open to the Community as a whole.

There are a number of apartments on or near Rumrill with limited outdoor space. The children and adults living in these often overcrowded residences  would benefit from having a near‐by recreation area. As our elected City Council members please advocate for the residence of San Pablo. Thank you.
