Good Evening Honorable Members of the San Pablo City Council, My name is Lucy Alfaro-Canjura, President of the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo. We formed this club as the only Spanish speaking Kiwanis Club in our City in order to better address the needs for our children, youth and young adults in San Pablo.
The Kiwanis motto is serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time. Already we have engaged in numerous programs and projects benefiting the children of our local community. The San Pablo Library has been a tremendous supporter of our club and its members and the San Pablo Community.
We have conducted onsite tutorial at the library in the past, given out books, Christmas toys and we conduct our Kiwanis meetings there. We have utilized local parks, elementary schools and local churches for other events, such as International Food Day, Christmas Toys for Tots, and Get Out the Vaccine to all our residents. We are currently planning a Return to School Backpack Giveaway and plan to donate additional new books to our K to 12 children.
We want to thank each one of you and invite you to join us in our mission to better serve our community. There are many Clubs in our Division 2, who are honored to have members of their City Council, Police and Fire Department and many other professionals as members of their Club.
