RE: FISCAL YEAR 2024 - $3M FEDERAL FUNDING REQUEST FOR THE CITY OF

SAN PABLO MUNICIPAL BROADBAND FOR CONSTRUCTION AND

INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLES PROJECT

Dear Senator Padilla:

On behalf of the San Pablo City Council, I am writing to express my sincere thank you for recommending a federal earmark request in the amount of $3M for support for the City of San Pablo Municipal Broadband Fiber Optic Project for the Fiscal Year 2024 Federal Appropriations process (See Attachment).

This critical project is one of three (3) community priority projects that will help support our socio and economically -disadvantaged community, its residents and provide the public with expansion of an existing City -provided municipal fiber connectivity project. T his project will bring significant community benefit s to our local businesses and residents with promotion of digital learning, internet connectivity, and for closing the ‘digital divide’ for low-income families.

We are extremely grateful for your consideration as this marks a significant point in our City’s history in being considered for a federal earmark request for one of our City projects for this upcoming federal fiscal year 2023-24 funding cycle.

The City knows that you have a number of worthwhile federal funding requests submitted each year from local cities, counties, and organizations state-wide, and your stalwart reputation at championing those funding requests each federal funding cycle to benefit the entire State of California.

Honorable U.S. Senator Alex Padilla
