Approach, Management, and Evaluation Plan (Maximum 500 words) The development and management of San Pablo Rides will be entrusted to the experienced team at Rich City Rides. As the program grows, we aim to train and develop local staff who can serve as mentors to new bike club members, facilitate community bicycle repair workshops, and lead community rides.

Our objective is to build local capacity and empower members of the community to start their own bike- and skate-related businesses, similar to the Rich City Rides Bike Skate Shop which offers services for both activities and is currently the only shop of its kind in Richmond. We see the potential for a similar venture in San Pablo, as the city currently does not have a bike or skate shop. By promoting cycling and skating and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, we hope to contribute to the economic development and well-being of the community.

Project Experience (Maximum 500 words)
In the last decade, Rich City Rides (RCR) has become a crucial part of the Richmond community, organizing over 300 guided community bicycle rides, 500 bicycle repair workshops, and providing over 1,200 bicycles, helmets, lights, and locks to youth and families in need. The organization has also piloted three high school bicycle clubs and a Veteran's Bike Club, bringing together thousands of community members of all ages to ride together and promoting healthy social activity.

Recently, the organization has reactivated its bike club at John F. Kennedy High School, called "The Riders of Kennedy", with 12 active members and more waiting to join. Rich City Rides has a master agreement with the West Contra Costa Unified School District, and the established relationship with the school has allowed for the integration of the club into the school's community. The Riders of Kennedy also participate in monthly Park Stewardship Days, special events, and school outreach activities to recruit new members. They have received training in bicycle safety and serve as Ride Marshals for RCR Wellness Rides. All new members receive a refurbished bicycle, a light set, and a lock, and attend weekly bicycle repair workshops to learn how to maintain and repair their bikes.

In addition to their engagement activities, Rich City Rides has founded a democratically governed worker-owned cooperative bike shop business staffed entirely by Richmond residents.

The bike shop has been running as a self-sustained, standalone, for-profit business for four years. The organization envisions replicating this successful model in San Pablo, as the city shares a similar demographic to Richmond, CA.

Proposed Scope of Services (Maximum 1500 words)
Rich City Rides' Youth Bike Club is a program aimed at promoting healthy physical and social habits among youth, supporting a culture of healthy transportation, and encouraging bicycle riding among all community members. The program includes bike skills workshops and rodeos for elementary school children, as well as mentoring and leadership development for high school and middle school youth club members.

For elementary school children, Rich City Rides provides bike rodeos and classes on safe and aware riding. The program also offers weekend field trips for parents and children to experience the joy of riding together to parks and playgrounds.

For high school and middle school youth club members, Rich City Rides teaches democracy through participation and encourages leadership development. Club members have monthly responsibilities and opportunities to run for officer positions. The program also provides incentives for new members and officers, such as refurbished bikes, RCR Bike Club shirts, and stipends.

In addition to the bike club program, Rich City Rides hosts monthly outreach events, new member orientations, and club officer elections. The program also collaborates with other organizations to promote healthy eating and active living through events like park stewardship days and bicycle skills exhibitions.

Through the Youth Bike Club Program, Rich City Rides aims to build a youth base of united, emerging, empowered, and informed leaders who care about their community, environment, health, and the health of their friends and family. By promoting cycling and leadership

development, Rich City Rides is fostering a culture of healthy transportation and creating positive change in the San Pablo community.
