RESOLUTION 2023-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING AN EVENT SPONSORSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 FOR THE SAN PABLO POLICE EMPLOYEES’ ASSOCIATION’S THIRD ANNUAL SIERRA TWO GOLF CHARITY ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2023
WHEREAS, on July 21, 2023, the City Manager’s Office received a request for sponsorship from the San Pablo Police Employees’ Association (SPPEA) for its 3 rd annual
golf tournament;
WHEREAS, the event will be held at the Wildhorse Golf Course in Davis on Friday, September 22, 2023;
WHEREAS, the event is a scramble golf tournament to honor form er San Pablo Sergeant David Neece (Sgt. Neece); the event is named after his call sign, “Sierra 2”;
WHEREAS, Sgt. Neece was part of the San Pablo Police Department for 13 years and passed unexpectedly in 2019 at a young age of 37;
WHERERAS, Sgt. Neece developed as one of the most respected and loved officers within the San Pablo Police Department;
WHEREAS, the funds raised from this event will benefit Sgt. Neece’s two children and a portion of the funds will be donated to the California Association of Tactical Officers Benevolence Fund in Sgt. Neece’s name;
WHEREAS, The City’s support of the event in his honor is a small gesture of the City’s appreciation for his service and contributions to the City that will promote morale among City’s current sworn and unsworn workforce alike;
WHEREAS, the sponsorship comes with four tickets to the event which will be offered up to current employees on a first come first served basis without charge to further promote employee morale and camaraderie;
WHEREAS, this is not a project as defined by CEQA;
WHEREAS, the SPPEA is a non-profit, 501(c)(5) organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo approves a sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 for the 3 rd Annual Sierra Two Golf Charity;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sponsorship in the amount of $ 1,000 will be funded from the Special Event Sponsorship Budget for FY 202 3-24 (100-1110-44050), leaving a remaining balance of $ 20,000 for the remainder of FY 20 23-24 for future sponsorships approved by the City Council.
