RESOLUTION 2023-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO APPROVING “SAN PABLO SHINES/ SAN PABLO BRILLA” AS THE OLD TOWN BEAUTIFICATION
OUTREACH CAMPAIGN NAME
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 149 (Sec. 16) created the Clean California Local Grant Program (CCLGP) which is part of the nearly $1.1 billion Clean California initiative that takes direct aim at the continuous trash generation that has overwhelmed the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and its partners; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Pablo submitted a grant application for the “Old Town Beautification Project” that would empower residents to beautify their neighborhood while educating residents about the various free and reduced costs disposal programs available to them by the City of San Pablo; and
WHEREAS, on February 22, 2022, through Resolution 2022- 026, City Council (Council) approved the City of San Pablo’s grant application to Caltrans CCLGP for the Old Town Beautification and Bush Avenue Pocket Park Projects; and
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2022, the City was notified that the City of San Pablo’s grant application was successful and on March 21, 2022, through Resolution 2022-045 City Council approved the grant awards and appropriated the funds to the project; and
WHEREAS, the City staff ha s been collaborating with Brand. Gov to develop the Old Town Beautification Outreach campaign; and
WHEREAS, on June 5, 2023, Brand. Gov presented to City staff three potential campaign names, in English and Spanish, with the objective to inspire positivity, highlight the City’s strengths, encourage community involvement , and emphasize sustainability and clean living; and
WHEREAS, on July 6, 2023, the Public Safety Standing Committee was presented with the three potential campaign names submitted by Brand.Gov which are:
1. San Pablo Shines/ San Pablo Brilla
2. San Pablo Beautiful/ San Pablo Hermoso
3. Litter-Free Living/ Vida Sin Basura
WHEREAS, the standing committee recommended “San Pablo Shines/San Pablo Brilla” as the campaign name for the Old Town Beautification campaign; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation was made because it effectively conveys the essence of the program while also evoking feelings of optimism, pride, vibrancy, and cleanliness, while maintaining its impact and essence in Spanish; and Resolution 2023-### Page 2
WHEREAS, upon the decision of a campaign name by the Council , the City staff will continue to work with Brand.Gov to design a dynamic logo that corresponds with the chosen name.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo hereby approves “San Pablo Shines/ San Pablo Brilla” as the campaign name for the Old Town Beautification Outreach Campaign.
