RESOLUTION 2023-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING AN EVENT SPONSORSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 1,000 TO THE SAN PABLO LIBRARY (WITH FRIENDS OF THE SAN PABLO LIBRARY AS NON-PROFIT 501C(3)
ORGANIZATION AS FISCAL AGENT) FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL CAR SHOW EVENT - LOWRIDERS AT THE LIBRARY – ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2023
WHEREAS, Build a Healthy Community: Foster Youth Leadership/Cultivation of the next generation of civic leaders is an adopted policy item in the FY 2023-25 City Council priority Work plan, effective May 1, 2023;
WHEREAS, this is not a project as defined by CEQA;
WHEREAS, on September 7, 2023, the City Manager’s Office received a request from Senior Community Library Manager Gia Paolini announcing the third annual Lowriders at the Library event;
WHEREAS, the event will be held in the San Pablo Library parking lot on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and will be hosted by the San Pablo Library;
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County Health Services will be offering vaccinations and emergency first-aid kits and the San Pablo Library will be doing library card sign-ups and promoting Project Second Chance and ESL groups;
WHEREAS, the San Pablo Police Department, La Familia, 4 Our Families Navigators, Prime Time Nutrition, and the Outsiders Car Club, will also be participating in the event, with Friends of the San Pablo Library as the Fiscal Agent for the event, which is a 501c(3) non-profit organization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo approves a sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 for the third annual car show Lowriders at the Library event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a total of $30,000 has been budgeted and earmarked for Annual Event Sponsorships under the adopted FY 2022 -23 Annual Operating Budget – City Council Department (100- 1110-44050). The authorized sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $14,000 in FY 2023/24 for future sponsorships by the City Council
