Dear City Clerk:
As a member of the Contra Costa County MEDS Coalition, I am reaching out to request that the
City
of
San
Pablo
approve our request for a
resolution
recognizing March
2024
as Prescription Drug
Abuse Awareness Month.
As you may know, prescription drug misuse can lead to serious consequences such as addiction and overdose. Every community in our country is impacted by this issue: in 2022 alone, 169 people died from opioid related overdoses in Contra Costa County. Our coalition works to educate both youth and adults about prescription drug safety to help save lives.
This
resolution
can aid in both educating the community and bringing awareness to the issue of substance misuse.
If approved, please let us know ASAP what city/town council meeting the resolution will be presented at, whether that meeting will be held in person or virtually, and whether there will be an opportunity for one of our coalition members to provide comments following the presentation of the
resolution.
