RESOLUTION 2024-___
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING AN EVENT SPONSORSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500 FOR THE KIWANIS CLUB OF SAN PABLO’S CINCO DE MAYO TRADICION Y ALEGRIA FESTIVAL EVENT
WHEREAS, Major Policy Goals: Enhance Community Resilience and Build a Healthy Community are adopted policy items under the FY 2023- 25 Council Priority Workplan, effective May 1, 2023;
WHEREAS, this proposed action is not a project as defined by CEQA;
WHEREAS, on February 20, 2024, the City Manager’s Office received a request for sponsorship from the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo to support its Cinco de Mayo Tradicion y Alegria Festival;
WHEREAS, the event is scheduled on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:30pm to 7:00pm at El Palenque Grill (1439 23rd St.) and is open to the public;
WHEREAS, the entertainment will include at least four bands, and other entertainers. There will also be games for children, food being sold, and local businesses and non-profit agencies will be there to sell products and distribute information;
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is a non- profit, civic, and charitable organization dedicated to uniting families and communities; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo is to advance a better life for all children, youth, and adults.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo authorizes a sponsorship in the amount of $1,500 to the Kiwanis Club of San Pablo; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, a total of $30,000 has been budgeted and earmarked for Special Event Annual Sponsorships under the Adopted FY 202 3-24 General Operating Budget – City Council Department (100-1110-44050). The authorized sponsorship in the amount of $1,500 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $9 ,000 for the remainder of FY 20 23-24 period for future sponsorships by the City Council.
