WHEREAS, Chef Nader Sharkes has been the dedicated Department Chair of the Culinary Academy at Contra Costa College for over 18 years, fostering a nurturing environment for the culinary professionals of tomorrow, and
WHEREAS, Chef Sharkes has been instrumental in the establishment and success of the Food and Wine Event, which is a cornerstone celebration for the Culinary Student Study Abroad program, enhancing students' global culinary perspectives, and
WHEREAS, under Chef Sharkes' guidance, the Food and Wine Event has become a beacon of philanthropy and educational support to fund international study experiences for culinary students, and
WHEREAS, Chef Sharkes' efforts have allowed over 120 students to immerse themselves in diverse culinary cultures, studying in esteemed gastronomic regions such as Italy, China, and France, thereby broadening their culinary skills and global awareness, and
WHEREA, Chef Sharkes’ legacy includes not only his commitment to education and cultural exchange but also his personal achievements as an acclaimed award winning chef, educator, and community leader, and
WHEREAS, the profound impact of Chef Sharkes work has been felt not just within the walls of the academy but also across communities and nations through the enriched lives of the students he has mentored
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Patricia Ponce, Mayor of the City of San Pablo, on behalf of the City Council and the appreciative community, do hereby recognize and honor Chef Nader Sharkes, C.E.C., for his extraordinary leadership, dedication to the advancement of culinary arts education, and his philanthropic efforts through the Culinary Student Study Abroad program. We commend Chef Sharkes for his unwavering dedication to empowering culinary students with global experiences and extend our deepest appreciation for his invaluable contribution to our community's cultural and educational vibrancy.
