RESOLUTION 2024-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH SKY ELEMENTS, LLC, FOR A DRONE SHOW SERVICE FOR THE 4 TH OF JULY MULTI -CULTURAL CELEBRATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $120,000 OVER THREE (3) FISCAL YEARS, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2024
WHEREAS, Sky Elements Drone Shows is the leading drone light show provider in the United States with drone light shows and aerial performances redefining the future of entertainment on an immense scale;
WHEREAS, last year was the first year the City of San Pablo held our first drone show in place of fireworks at our annual 4
th of July Multi-Cultural Celebration, with Sk y
Elements, LLC being the company that provided the Drone Show Services at the 2023 Multi-Cultural 4th of July Celebration;
WHEREAS, several positive effects were observed by replacing the fireworks show with a drone show; reduced air pollution as they do not emit particles into the atmosphere, unlike fireworks, l ower noise pollution as they were quieter and less disrupt ive to both people, wildlife, and pets, and they did not leave behind debris or litter, making cleanup much easier than when we had the fireworks show, saving the city money on less labor costs;
WHEREAS, t his item was taken before the Community Services Standing Committee (Pineda/Cruz) on June 4, 2024, where it was unanimously recommended to come before the City Council for formal review; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends executing a new agreement with Sky Elements, LLC, at an annual cost of $40,000, in an amount not to exceed $120,000, effective July 1, 2024, and running through FY 2026-27;
WHEREAS, by committing to a three-year contract, the City is securing a reputable vendor, receiving a flat annual rate for the next three years, while expanding the number of drones being added to the show every year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute a new agreement with Sky Elements, LLC drone services for the annual 4
th of July Multi-Cultural Celebration in an
amount not to exceed $120,000 over three (3) fiscal years, effective July 1, 2024; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the foregoing recitations are true and correct and are included herein by reference as findings.
