business-supporting funds to continue.

The funds helped us advance and improve
our business by supporting renovations.

San Pablo EDC has been really helpful
administering grants and supporting us
through the whole process. The funds we
received helped expand my business to hire
another employee and have a space for
them to work. This funding needs to
continue in order to help more businesses.”

PENNY – FROM NEW ARRIVAL

TO CULINARY CAREER
“I am a San Pablo resident who was a new immigrant to
the US about 8 years ago. I could not afford the tuition of attending the culinary program of Contra Costa College.

With the generous funding help through San Pablo EDC, I was able to complete the course without having to worry about paying the tuition and equipment costs.

After graduation, I was able to obtain full-time
employment with Contra Costa College's culinary
program. I truly think this would not have been possible without the assistance from the San Pablo EDC and
Measure S funding. I am very grateful to the EDC and the City of San Pablo for supporting my dream and helping
me start a career that I love!”

“Before I began working with the San Pablo EDC, I was at a crossroads in my academic and professional journey. I was stagnating in minimum wage jobs with no hope of
advancement. I wanted to make a change and so I sought
opportunities to gain technical skills to upgrade my career.

San Pablo EDC supported me to take an intensive DevOps
course. Funds from Measure S helped pay for the course and for training supports along the way. I graduated from the program, completed a paid internship, and am now working in an IT role at a nonprofit in Richmond. I am immensely
grateful to the EDC and the City!”

You are not here merely to make a living.

You are here in order to enable the world
to live more amply, with greater vision,
with a finer spirit of hope and
achievement. You are here to enrich the
world, and you impoverish yourself if you
forget the errand. – Woodrow Wilson
