RESOLUTION 2024-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING AN EVENT SPONSORSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500 FOR WEIGH OF LIFE’S ANNUAL SPOOKY FUNDRAISER EVENT HELD AT THE VETERAN’S MEMORIAL HALL ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2024
WHEREAS, Build a Healthy Community: Foster Youth Leadership/Cultivation of the next generation of civic leaders is an adopted policy item in the FY 2023-25 City Council priority Work plan, effective May 1, 2023;
WHEREAS, this proposed action is not a project as defined by CEQA;
WHEREAS, on October 4, 2024, the City Manager’s Office received a request from the Executive Director of Weigh of Life, Ruth Vasquez -Jones, announcing the annual Spooky Fundraiser event;
WHEREAS, the event will be held in the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Richmond on October 31, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm;
WHEREAS, for the past 17 years, Weigh of Life has helped families in West Contra County to enjoy improving their health through exercise, nutrition education, and social support, and Weigh of Life partners with the City of San Pablo to provide classes at Helms Middle School; and
WHERAS, the Spooky Fundraiser event raises funds and awareness, and offers children and families a safe Halloween party.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo hereby approves a sponsorship in the amount of $2 ,500 for the annual Weigh of Life Spooky Fundraiser event; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a total of $30,000 has been budgeted and earmarked for Annual Event Sponsorships under the adopted FY 202 4-25 Annual Operating Budget – City Council Department (100- 1110-44050). The authorized sponsorship in the amount of $2,500 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $14,000 in FY 2024-25 for future sponsorships by the City Council.
