RESOLUTION 2025-###
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN PABLO AUTHORIZING A $1,000 SPONSORSHIP FOR BIKE EAST BAY’S ANNUAL BIKE -TO-WHEREVER DAY ON THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025
WHEREAS, Build a Healthy Community: Improve Connections to Healthy Eating is an adopted policy item under the FY 2023-25 Council Priority Workplan, effective May 1, 2023;
WHEREAS, this proposed action is not a project as defined by CEQA;
WHEREAS, on December 9, 2024, the City Manager’s Office received an email from the Bike East Bay Team requesting annual sponsorship for their Annual Bike to Wherever Day event scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025;
WHEREAS, Bike East Bay seeks to increase bicycling to improve the health and quality of life of all residents, reduce environmental impacts and make our streets and communities vibrant places to live, work and play;
WHEREAS, various sponsorship levels of Bike to Wherever Day help provide Bike East Bay with the resources to promote bicycling as an everyday means of transportation for all residents of the East Bay; and
WHEREAS, support goes directly to the creation and distribution of promotional materials such as Bike to Wherever Day stickers and Bike to Wherever Day posters, as well as support for volunteer coordination and incentives for bicyclists.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San Pablo authorizes a sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 to Bike East Bay for their annual Bike to Wherever Day on Thursday, May 15, 2025; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a total of $30,000 has been budgeted and earmarked for Special Event Annual Sponsorships under the Adopted FY 202 4-25 General Operating Budget – City Council Department (100-1110-44050). The authorized sponsorship in the amount of $1,000 will be deducted from this expense balance leaving a remaining balance of $11,000 for the remainder of FY 2024-25 for future sponsorships by the City Council.
