History of the Community Schools Initiative
On November 21, 2011 the San Pablo City Council passed a resolution to develop a San Pablo Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) initiative. Through the establishment of full-service community schools in San Pablo, the City created the conditions for Contra Costa County (CCC), West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD), community-based organizations, local businesses, families, and community leaders to form a strong partnership to address the needs of students and families.
Beacon Directors supported group activities like sport teams, student clubs, and leadership to create a positive school culture and climate. They also infused health and wellness into school activities.
