Dear Mayor, Councilmembers, and Staff:
On behalf of Movement Legal, I write to submit a public comment in strong opposition to the passage of this last (and seemingly final) iteration of a "just cause" ordinance.
The ordinance is inneffective and likely void, among other reasons, because the latest version omits the remedy for tenants evicted for substantial remodel where the remodel is not initiated or completed, as stated in my prior comment.
The 2 months relocation, on balance, is not enough to make this ordinance stronger than state law. We urge you to withdraw the just cause ordinance.
The voters of San Pablo will address their own needs through a ballot initiative.
