San Pablo City Council-
I am writing as a neighbor in opposition of the Embarc Cannabis store proposal. As it is designated, weed stores must remain 1000 feet or more from high school campuses. Contra Costa College is the home of Middle College High School.
The high school uses all aspects and grounds of the college for academia and sports. As seen from the picture I have attached the CCC campus starts a mere 600 feet from the front door of the proposed shop, just a few more feet from this corner is the football field and walking track, both used by the high school students to fulfill PE requirements.
Embarc is using the location of the Administration Office as the guide point to the high school location, which is at the far end of the CCC campus, near Shane Drive. This is not an appropriate reference point, as the students fulfill physical education requirements near the 600 foot mark. For student safety, I suggest you deny the use permit at this location; prevention of drug use, influence and distribution to minors is of critical importance. Acceptance of the use permit could bring lawsuits to both the prospect company and the city, for allowing them to set up the business within 1000 of a high school. Thank you for your time and effort in not supporting its inception.
