Serving Our Community with Courage, Integrity, and Innovation California and Federal law authorize qualified individuals to obtain a license to carry a concealed firearm (CCW). Currently, San Pablo residents applying for a CCW license complete the application process through the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. The current process includes:
● Application review
● Applicant interview
● Comprehensive background investigation
● Firearms qualification
● Issuance of the CCW license
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is transitioning responsibility for processing CCW applications to individual cities. As one of the last municipalities in the county to make this transition, the San Pablo Police Department is preparing to assume responsibility for administering CCW applications for residents.
