Subject: Public Comment Sept 21, 2026; Consent 26-481 Resolution in Support of WCCUSD's Measure V Dear Mayor and Members of the San Pablo City Council:
My name is Leslie Reckler, and I serve as a trustee on the West Contra Costa Unified School District Board of Education. I am writing in my personal capacity. My comments are my own and do not represent the views of the District or its Board of Education.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our public schools, and thank you for supporting Measure V. Your ongoing support of our schools recognizes an important connection: strong public schools help build strong communities.
Measure V will help protect the local investment our community has made in public education since 2004. A few key points deserve emphasis:
Measure V is a renewal, not a new tax. It continues the existing parcel tax at the same rate for nine years. It protects approximately $10.2 million annually for local public schools. These funds support teachers, core academics, science and technology, career preparation, counseling, athletics, and other opportunities that help students succeed.
Local dollars stay local, with accountability. The measure includes independent oversight and annual audits, along with exemptions for seniors and eligible people with disabilities.
Whether or not we have children in school, we all have a stake in the next generation. Our students are future nurses, skilled workers, business owners, neighbors, and community leaders. Giving them a strong education strengthens the community we share.
Your support matters, and so does every vote. I urge residents to participate in this important November election and vote YES on Measure V. Please make a plan to vote and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.
Thank you for standing with our students and helping sustain the public schools our community depends on.
With gratitude,
Leslie Reckler
