Hello,
I’m a neighbor who lives up near the Civic Center. I understand that Thursday and Friday nights with live music in front of the Pint Size is endangered. I would like to say that these music community events have been the highlight of my life during Covid. Whether masked or unmasked, 6 fr apart or not, I have loved getting out of my home office and going down to the Pint Size with my husband to listen to great music, maybe get a dance or two in. These evenings have made life tolerable and my husband and I enjoy eating out before p, during or after the music.
Please keep it going! It is a very safe, fun and healthy way to be out in the community.
Thanks for your consideration.
BTW, I am a 64 year old Mom, have lived in Marin since 1976 and bought my house in San Rafael 12 years ago.
Appreciate you taking the time to read this. These evenings make San Rafael special and whenever I have out of town guests, I take them to the Pint Size. More than several have commented what a nice crowd comes out, no drunks or homeless, just people that appreciate community and great local music.
Take care

Hello San Rafael City Clerk,
San Rafael is such a great city! One important thing that makes it great is the live music on 4th St. on Thursday and Friday evenings. I am writing to strongly advocate that the Pint Size Lounge at 1615 4th St. is allowed to continue having live music on Thursday and Friday evenings on a closed 4th St. This live music livens up the neighborhood, supports local businesses and makes San Rafael a more fun place to live. Please support live music!

Dear City of San Rafael,
Having live music on fourth street in the West End every Thursday and Friday has added more to the quality of life than anything I can remember since moving here 23 years ago. The quality of the music has been outstanding and the temperament of the crowd has been life-affirming. It has been something to look forward to during two years of the pandemic, which only proves its value to the community moving forward.
Please continue to help make it happen

To Whom It May Concern:
The Thursday night event at the west end of Fourth Street is an absolute delight. The hours are great & it brings something to our city that the neighboring towns do not have. It’s great for establishing a sense of community for those of us who live here, and additionally, brings in a few others who might come back to shop or dine on other nights. A great first step in revitalization now that it seems we can again gather. Please keep it going!!

Hello.
My name is David Noble and I am a business owner and musician in San Rafael. I truly enjoy seeing and hearing live music at the Pint Size Lounge twice a week and would love to see it continue into October.
The owner of the Pint Size Lounge (Adam Violante) has been very accommodating and monitors the volume at all the shows to be respectful towards neighbors. It would be a real shame to bring these local concerts to an abrupt end. Please consider allowing shows to continue at the Pint Size Lounge. It not only fosters a sense of community, the music helps heal people from the horrors of the past couple years.
Thank you.

Hello. I just wanted to chime in on the West End events at The Pint Size and Whipper Snapper and let you know I think you should extend it as long as weather permits!!!!!! It is a premiere musical event in Marin, that has gained a great reputation for people to come, eat, drink and dance. As a musician, the crowds are always having a great time, happy to be in the presence of their community and kind to one another. ANd the folks that have kids come and either have dinner or sit outside the beer garden on the sidewalk and enjoy the music. It brings the community together on a regular basis that everyone can enjoy. I believe Adam Violante has done his due diligence with abiding by city instigated rules around sound levels, as well as watching over his patrons to make sure everything is running smoothly. My belief is if you aren't able to allow it to continue with someone like Adam, there isn't anyone else worth trusting with doing something like this.I always look forward to coming up to Marin (where I grew up) and getting to play for and with many dear friends. Like Rihanna said 'please don't stop the music'.
Thank you for your time. Best, Erik Schramm

Thursday nights and Friday nights are a joy and celebration on the west end of San Rafael and the continuation to allow the Pint Sized Lounge to play music would allow it to prosper! Thurs and Fri night live music brings people into San Rafael which allows our community to continue its growth through the arts, health and beauty!

Dear City Council,
I am writing as a professional musician whose livelihood has greatly benefited from Adam Violante’s shows at a Pint Size Lounge.
Adam has for many years been a tremendous asset to the neighborhood from solely producing West End Village Celebration to keeping businesses and the music community alive on Thursday and Friday nights.
He is extremely mindful of sound constraints and has a very focused modern sound system that stays well within prescribed db limitations. He is also very conscientious of any and all safety measures, and he takes care of his clientele as well as the musicians.
Adam has proven over of years to be a generous and invaluable resource to the city of San Rafael, and I therefore strongly urge you to allow him to present music through October. It is keeping him as well as many local musicians afloat.
Sincerely,

I only just heard that this was up for discussion tonight so maybe missed the bus but am writing in support of the community building that comes from the musical programing on Fourth Street Thursday and Friday. It has been such a joy to have this fun activity going on right down the street. Not to mention it has been a great help to the musician community, of which I am part, in providing venues where there were none before. And even though the worst of the covid shut down may be over the aftermath of venue closures dou to the shut down still continues.
So thank you for your attention and Count me in as a supporter and resident of San Rafael.

Dear City Clerk
I am writing as a West End neighbour regarding the live music nights and road closures in West End 4th/G st
Myself, husband and three teenagers love these Thursday and Friday night events, they bring the local community together. All ages attend these nights, I sit and enjoy food from Whippersnapper and a cider or soda from The Pint size, I see many faces I know, but also new faces many passing by to stop and listen then carry on home from dinner. One couple I see and it’s truly beautiful is a lady and her friend/family member possibly client who is in a wheelchair and unable to move on his own, she dances all night with him spinning his chair and just enjoying the energy. This is what these events c are about, fun, community, support of our local independent businesses.
Adam and the Pint size have worked so hard to bring life to West end, these events end on time, are always respectful and I have never seen any issues at any event, we live locally and the rd closure is minimal and noise not an issue as over by 9…as small business owners ourselves we fully support continuing these Thursday and Friday nights and hope the city see fit to permit to use.
Thank you

Subject: Support for continuing West End music
Dear San Rafael City Council,
I’m writing to express my support for continuing the West End live music through at least October.
These music shows bring out community out in force, enliven the street and create a great sense of culture and well being.
I’m not sure how we can ensure that all local businesses benefit from these street closures. Having talked to certain local businesses as a local resident, I understand some can suffer due to the oddly restricted street access. Closing off the entire 4th St corridor and encouraging that all businesses thrive should be the goal. Create a European style pedestrian only area that brings residents from all over Marin to our town. Support the arts and bring family friendly activities to attract tourists on a regular basis.
We also need to figure out a way for restaurants to stay open later than 8 or 8:30. Often people want to go eat after the music shows and all the restaurants are closed. There may be other factors in play but I hope the council can support all the 4th St businesses to share the bounty. We are known to be a very sleepy town and need to change that reputation to attract people to San Rafael on a regular basis. Make it easier for restaurants to get started and keep rents reasonable.
I realize there are many factors at play but I’m sure with getting input and implementing ideas from local businesses, a plan to enliven our town can be made to work for the good of all.
Thank you, Kala Shah
Resident of San Rafael for 20 years.
I am a Sun Valley resident of 22 years. I ask you to keep the Thursday/ Friday music going at the West End at the Pint Size lounge.
This has truly been one of the events that gets me out into downtown in the evening.
I truly enjoy it and I know many people that do also.
I usually frequent restaurants in the area.
I do think it respectfully closes down at a reasonable hour for any nearby residences and it is not too loud.
I also do not mind the street closure when I am not attending.
I usually walk so parking is not an issue.
Sincerely

Please, please, please keep the live music in the West End going. As a West End resident for over 20 years my family and I love walking down the road to experience live free music in a safe and fun environment. We love meeting friends there and having a bite to eat and reconnecting with our neighbors and friends. It is such a welcome addition to the area. I have friends that come from all over Marin to experience this event. It is a great safe and early event that appeals to all ages. And what a great opportunity for the businesses to get a boost to the bottom line.
Please let the music play on!!

My name is Michael Jobe, I live at with my family of four. I am fully in favor of having music on Thursday and Friday nights. It has been had been a great addition to our West End community with very minimal impact on our neighborhood. The owner of The Pint Size Lounge, Adam Violante has been very respectful in getting our feedback regarding sound levels and overall impact on our community.
Community is so important and I feel that this has created a wonderful opportunity to bring family and friend together on a weekly basis. This supports our West End businesses and continues to grow our community!
Please extend this through October and bring it back every year after.

Dear City leaders and fellow citizens. Just wanted to lend my voice of support for the live music program on 4th Street, in particular the Thursday and Friday nights at the Pint Size Lounge. I feel it has been a very important community event that has elevated the hearts and spirits of the people, especially during these trying times of pandemic lockdowns. The outdoors nature of this program makes it a rare and crucial outdoor resource for those who cannot yet attend crowded indoor gatherings. The proprietor, Adam has done his very best to work closely with the immediate neighborhood to reduce the impact of sound levels and crowd. I urge you to allow this event to continue through the coming month of October.
Respectfully,

We have lived in San Rafael in our same home since 1974. We’ve paid our taxes, give back to our community as a doctor and a nurse as members of the Marin Medical Reserve Corps and volunteer in the schools, parades, and more. Finally San Rafael has good clean fabulous live music after years of no live music because of Covid and before that, very little live music! There is so much music talent in Marin County and to be able to walk from our home to 4th St and support our local restaurants, have dinner while listening to live music EVERY week, is wonderful! The music stops at 9:00 so we dont know why anyone would complain.
Please Please Please let the music continue! It brings in many good people from all over and has put San Rafael back on the map as a fun place to visit AND a great place to live.
Thank you for your consideration on this very important matter.

To Whom It May Concern,
We are residents of San Rafael for over 20 years and have watched downtown West End San Rafael morph into a lively scene that brings great camaraderie and a sense of community to our city. It would be a great disservice to our city to take away this golden opportunity to bring such positivity downtown. I live downtown and the music is just an added bonus, not a bother. My neighbors feel the same way. We love the Pint Size Lounge- the owners are amazing and so much fun. We have a place to gather and socialize and meet neighbors and it is the highlight of our week. Friends from other towns say that they have heard great things about these events. Please, please think about what you are doing here if you consider taking this away from our city. San Rafael needs all the help we can get, and taking this away would be the worst decision ever.
Thank you for your good work on behalf of San Rafael,

We do not have many places in San Rafael where people can gather for free entertainment, meet friends and enjoy great bands.

Subject: Cooperation with Neighbors and Continued Live Music @the Pint Size Dear San Rafael City Council,
I’m writing in favor of continuing live music at the corner of 4th and G St, in the West End Village, Thursday and Friday nights.
I am in a unique situation, as I'm not only a home owner at but I also perform with my band once a month, at Dining Under the Lights.
I’d like to mention I am dear friends with one family who is not keen on music continuing. And I am friends with the owners of Red Dragon Yoga, Rebound Bookstore, Johnny Doughnuts, Whipper Snapper and Abbot Kinney, the businesses that surround this intersection, and I’ve had productive and friendly conversations with them about how support them and their concerns.
As a performer I hope to continue being able to share music with our community.
As a 31 year resident at I am grateful for neighbor, Adam Violante/Pint Size Lounge, who has brought life to our neighborhood during and after Quarantine, and who has worked hard to address concerns of the neighbors and cooperate to find resolutions.
My husband, Michael Jobe, and I, are willing to help any way we can to keep these special gatherings on the calendar for years to come.
