Hello I am a 25 year resident homeowner in San Rafael - for the last 12 years downtown in Sun Valley - writing in support for extension of the West End Music and Dining events authorization.
These are vital community events that benefit hundreds of residents and provide supplemental income to musicians and artists and local businesses who have struggled mightily since the pandemic. I frequently attend, always walking to/from and meet many friends at these events from San Rafael and nearby communities. In this post-pandemic era, our community is in need of MORE outdoor events. The early schedule 6-9pm is perfect and I am sure a big reason I am not aware of a single behavioral incident for the 2 years these have been running.
The loss of all indoor live music venues in San Rafael over recent years is devastating, including Terrapin Crossroads which was an absolute treasure, and George's and the Fenix which were poorly operated/targeted in my opinion.
I look forward to hearing any concerns from neighbors and businesses at tonight's meeting. The San Rafael West End is still in dire need of revitalization from businesses that add to the vibrancy of our community.
