Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
As a graduate of the Environmental Forum of Marin Class of 46, I encourage you to adopt the reusable foodware ordinance that the county has already passed, along with many other cities in Marin. By doing this now, the city will get the support of education and enforcement from the county that can help businesses to comply and make this an easier transition.
Reducing single use foodware waste should be a priority as it a threat to our environment and health.
We appreciate your leadership to focus on ways to help reduce this major environmental issue we are facing.
Thank you for your service to our community.
With gratitude,
Bridget Clark

Dear San Rafael Town Council members,
I live in Larkspur and enjoy many restaurants in San Rafael, like IL Davide, Falafel Hut and Sol Food, I would like to see the Reusable Foodware Ordinance passed to ensure that we are reducing single-use waste that currently is harmful to our health and the health of the environment.
The time is now. San Rafael, please adopt this ordinance.
Thank you,
Julie Munro

To the town council
I live in San Anselmo but often shop for groceries and frequent restaurants and coffee shops in San Rafael. I am writing to urge you to adopt the food ware ordinance at your meeting on May 1. It will take all the towns in Marin to have a united front, helping to reduce a big part of the cause of plastic pollution, which is single use disposable foodware. I go out of my way to support those shops who make the effort to reduce the use of plastic and disposable foodware. We need to stop the use of single use plastic at the source. Recycling is not working.
I hope you will consider passing this ordinance.

To: Distrib- City Clerk <[email protected]> Subject: Monday May 1 Meeting - Please support the reusable foodware ordinance Dear San Rafael City Council members,
Thank you for continuing San Rafael's leadership in climate action and sustainability to ensure the wellbeing of its citizens and environment. As a Marin County resident, who dines frequently at businesses in San Rafael I urge the City Council members to vote YES to adopt the County’s Reusable Foodware Ordinance.
We all treasure the natural beauty and environment that makes San Rafael so special, which is why we need to protect it from the adverse impacts of plastic pollution, litter, waste, and climate change. This ordinance will help eliminate one of the greatest contributors to this problem: single-use food packaging and disposable foodware. Additionally, take-out containers use chemical linings that are known to be detrimental to our health.
As someone who worked to get the statewide plastic straw ordinance to pass, I can attest that the ordinance isn't perfect, but it's a huge step in the right direction and at least it's a start! Let's get this passed and modify it as needed to improve it. I can remember a time when pizza was just about the only item you could order as takeout besides fast food. The waste our throw-away culture has created is relatively new. The future is now and reuse is that future. It's going to take work to get there and this is just the beginning. Let's lead the way when it comes to reuse! Please vote YES for reusables and say NO to single-use plastic- support the Reusable Foodware Ordinance when it is brought before you for a vote. Thank you for supporting this.
Sincerely,

To Mayor Colin and San Rafael City Council Members,
I live in Mill Valley and have served on Sierra Club Marin Group's Plastic Free Marin committee since its inception in 2018 but am writing as an individual.
I was so pleased when Marin County passed their Reusable Foodware Ordinance and hope to hear that San Rafael joins the other Marin cities that are following suit. It is only one step in attempts to solve our current environmental problems but it is an important one and every action counts.
Thank you for considering my request.
