Dear Mayor Kate and City Council members,

My name is Gisselle and I live in Petaluma. I am wring to ask you to take urgent and immediate acon to pass tenant protecons in San Rafael to stop the displacement, evicons, and unjust rent increases that are threatening our community, especially the Canal. Most of my coworkers live in that neighborhood and some of my childhood friends are sll living there to this day, they are struggling to keep up with rent, working overme and picking up extra shis. Due to this, they look overwhelmed, over worked, stressed, and unhealthy. It is hard for them to go to school and get an educaon , and take care of their families all at the same me. It is super sad watching as these families that I am close too have to deal with unfair situaons like these. You’re help is very much needed and appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Gisselle Arellano

To: Distrib- City Clerk <[email protected]> Subject: STATE MUST SET HOUSING EXAMPLE - BY EMILY HOEVEN (San Francisco Chronicle- INSIGHT, Sunday, May 7th, 2023
I’M IN FAVOR TO CHANGE THE LAW, LET’S KEEP SAN RAFAEL CITY AS A CHARMING AND FRIENDLY TOWN :“Faced with a statewide housing crisis, California has increasingly moved to muscle NIMBY local governments into building against their will. The State announced Monday that it’s suing the Sacramento County city of Elk Grove for denying a proposed 66 unit affordable housing complex………….

The state owns about 7.6 million acres of real estate across California, including nearly 58 million square feet of office space………….

Sincerely, Marta
