Dear Council Members,
It's looks like the dissolution of the DRB is imminent. Before that happens, I would like to give you a few things to consider. I understand the plan is to roll the architectural review into the PC review by adding possibly two architects to the Commission. Having served on the DRB for 23 years, and served as one of the two members of the DRAC during COVID, I would like to point out that, by having only a limited representation on the PC, you will lose the invaluable synergy a larger group of design professionals provides and I believe the process will inevitably be less successful. The DRB also provides an important opportunity for residents, the applicants and the Board to have a productive exchange of ideas.
What happens when your limited number of architects or landscape architects is absent from a PC meeting and there is no architectural review? I would also like to know how the City intends to handle landscape reviews as this does not appear to be addressed in the proposed changes.
You cannot expect the Staff to provide everything contributed by professionals and the other residents who actually live in our community.
