BACKGROUND:
The terms of Philip Mooney, Barry Bergman, and Marc Solomon are set to expire at the end of April 2024, and the term of Sylvain Frayer was set to expire at the end of October 2027, but he has resigned from the BPAC. The City Clerk’s office recruited for applications and received eighteen applications; however, two applicants withdrew.
SAN RAFAEL CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT / Page: 2
The goal of the BPAC is to promote bicycling and walking as viable means of transportation throughout San Rafael, to provide conceptual input on public bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects, and to support the implementation of the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every other month, even months, at 6:00 p.m. at San Rafael City Hall, Third Floor Conference Room 1400 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94901.
ANALYSIS:
The City Clerk’s office recruited for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee vacancies and received eighteen (18) applications; however, two applicants withdrew.
Due to the high volume of applications received, a City Council subcommittee (Mayor Kate and Councilmember Maika Llorens Gulati) reviewed applications and selected eight applicants to be interviewed by the City Council. Staff recommends the City Council interview the seven (7) eligible applicants and make appointments to fill the vacancies.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
The call for applications for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was advertised through mass email notification, the City website, social media platforms, Marin IJ, and physically posted at City facilities.
