Subject: Support for West End Block Party 2025
To whom it may concern
I am writing you on behalf of myself, my wife, and our neighbors around the corner of F St and Latham St. We all support and look forward to the entertainment and community gathering that happens at the Block Parties held a block away from our homes.
I am 73 years old, and we have owned our home at for 30 years. I am a proud citizen of San Rafael, and these type of events are a big part of the reason why.
Someone has circulated unsolicited flyers that are absolutely ridiculous. A person calling themselves WestEndNeighborsSR has obviously got some serious problems, but the Block Party can’t be blamed for their unhappiness. I was a professional musician most of my adult life, and I can tell you that people love live music. These events bring out families, seniors, handicapped folks and youth who can’t afford or are too young to go to a bar or club to hear live music.
Cancelling these events would be very very disappointing to hundreds of people.
We live in a state that places a high value on freedom. Please don’t forget that the needs and desires of many should never be taken away by the complaints of one or two.
We hope to see you for our West End Block Party!
Thank you,
Kerry and Colleen Hansen
