Re: Request to Pull (Hold) Item 4b from the December 1, 2025 City Council Agenda; re: 350 Merrydale Ordinance Adoption - Final Adoption of Ordinance 2057:
Dear Mayor Colin, Councilmembers Bushey, Hill, Llorens Gulati, and Kertz, and Ms. Lara I am writing to respectfully request that Consent Calendar Item 4b of the December 1, 2025 City Council Meeting Agenda be pulled (held) and addressed under Item 5 - Other Agenda Items, for staff presentation, discussion, public comment, and vote. Item 4b pertains to 350 Merrydale Ordinance Adoption - Final Adoption of Ordinance 2057.
I am requesting this be pulled from the Consent Calendar because I wish to speak in opposition to Ordinance 2057. In addition, the agenda packet does not include any staff report to provide information on Item 4b; only Ordinance 2057 is presented; and I am uninformed about this ordinance. I do have several questions about Ordinance 2057, most notably why Ordinance 2057 is even necessary since Ordinance 2056 will remain in effect during the now-designated shelter crisis, and with the City repeatedly and publicly stating that the interim shelter project at 350 Merrydale would not commence until sometime in early or spring of 2026. I respectfully submit that without any staff report, we the electorate need to get more information on Ordinance 2057 and we need to have our questions addressed before the City Council votes on its final adoption.
I trust the City Council will pull item 4b from the Consent Calendar, as requested. In submitting this request, I also request that it be entered into the public record for the above reference City Council meeting and agenda item.
Thank you,
Gregory Andrew
